A Not-So-Sticky Solution to Protecting Your Floor and Carpet

If there is one thing that will mess your floor, windows and carpet, it is when you are renovating or reconstructing your house. This includes even minor repairs and repainting in the house. The floors will be scratched, the carpet will be damaged and stained and the windows might get some smeared over with paint. You may opt to layer and cover everything with old newspapers, but this is not a really effective method in protecting your floor and your carpet form scratches and stains. Hence, you may opt to place a layer of inexpensive surface protective tape to cover and protect you floor, carpet and windows.

Adhesive surface protecting film comes in different forms and for specific purposes. These are carpet protection tape, carpet protection film, clear application tape, paper application tape, surface protection tape and surface protection film. You will find a specific product to use in layering and protecting your carpet, floor and even windows during construction. In some cases, you might even opt to use carpet protection tape during a party to prevent spilled wine and food from ruining your carpet.

Don’t let the word “adhesive” mislead you into thinking that these products are as sticky as duct tape and will leave behind some grime or other sticky residues on your carpet or floor after you remove them. Yes, these protective films will stay neatly in place while you move ladders and cans of paint and other construction materials over them. But after all the work is done, you can easily peel them away and not worry about a thin layer of gummy adhesive residue stuck to your floor. It is as simple and neat as that, so no more cleaning the floor after all the work is done.

These protective adhesive tapes and films are about 3 millimeters thick and are rather sturdy. These won’t easily tear or rip apart when moving heavy equipment, and will help in protecting your floor from scratches brought about by workmen’s boots and dragging about heavy equipment and tools around the house.

Inexpensive adhesive surface protective tape will no doubt not only save your floor and carpet but also your wallet form incidental damages brought about by repainting and construction.
